THE MADHAVAN NAYAR FOUNDATION

The Madhavan Nayar Foundation is a non-governmental Public Charitable Trust established in 1984. The work of the Foundation is governed by the Board of Trustees, comprising members of Madhavan Nayar's family and other eminent people of Kochi city. Our Board members are:

Shri Ram Kumar Nayar, nephew of the founder, is an engineer by profession. He qualified from IIT Madras (B Tech) in 1968, followed by an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad in 1970. Retired in 2009 as Managing Director of a Public Ltd Company and is presently Director of a design and detailing export Company based in Bangalore.

Shri Raj Nayar, also nephew of R Madhavan Nayar, is an architect by profession, practising and residing in Kochi since 1979. An ingenious innovator, and an expert with low-cost, local materials, he has designed many cost-saving solutions for business and our very own Museum. 


Rajeshwari Menon

Beloved sister of R Madhavan Nayar Smt. Rajeshwari Menon resides in Trivandrum. She is an accomplished musician, sitar and Jaltarang player


Ramani Balashankar

Grand-niece of the founder, Smt. Ramani Balashankar is a post-graduate in nutrition science, and also an exponent of Bharatnatyam dance and Carnatic Music.


A close friend and contemporary of Mr. Nayar, Shri V N Venugopal was formerly with Apollo Tyres Cochin. Active in the Kerala  Management Association and the Cochin Chamber of Commerce, he was long-standing President of the Kerala Fine Arts Society. He is actively involved in the education sector as Board member of Bharatya Vidya Mandir and Chinmayananda Mission Schools. Apart from his love of the classical performing arts, he is also an expert on the history of the region.

Shri A K Nair is a Mechanical Engineer with a professional career spanning over a total 44 years, in areas such as Engineering, Industrial Promotion and Merchant Banking, Chemical Engineering and Education. He is active in professional bodies and has been President of institutions such as Association of Gelatin manufacturers of India, Kerala Management Association, CII, State Productivity Council and Cochin Chamber of Commerce to name a few. Has served as member in the Board of many Public and Private sector companies and currently serves as independent director in the boards of seven companies.

P Narayanan is at the helm of an international shipping business, Chakiat Agencies in Cochin. He has served as President of Cochin Steamer Agents Association, Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry and also as a Trustee in the Cochin Port Trust and Director of India Gateway Terminals Pvt Ltd (a DP World Company). He is the current Director of Gateway Distriparks Kerala Ltd.

Niece of the founder, Smt. Arundhaty Nayar is an architect by profession, partner at design firm Sen & Nayar in Cochin since 1979. Her love for wood and beautiful furniture, led to the creation of a boutique furniture brand Better By Design and she has many prestigious projects to her name.
